An Elegant Military Wedding at Oxnead Hall, Norfolk
An Elegant Military Wedding at Oxnead Hall, Norfolk Oxnead Hall has to be one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Norfolk. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside, with incredible gardens, historic buildings and so many beautiful spaces to celebrate, it's an absolute dream to photograph. Kat and Sam's wedding made the most of all of it. Their day was elegant and romantic, with beautiful white florals, an outdoor ceremony in the grounds and some wonderful military traditions woven into the celebrations. And then, later in the evening, Kat swapped her elegant bridal gown for the most fabulous mini dress and the party really got started! An Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Oxnead Hall Kat and Sam chose to hold their ceremony outside in the beautiful grounds of Oxnead Hall. On a gorgeous day, it's such a lovely way to get married. Surrounded by greenery and with their friends and family gathered around them, the setting felt romantic without needing to be overly styled. Sam wore his military uniform while Kat looked incredible walking into the ceremony carrying one of my favourite bouquets — an abundant arrangement of luxurious white roses and soft white florals that suited the elegant feel of their day perfectly. A Military Guard of Honour & Confetti After the ceremony came one of the most memorable moments of the day. Kat and Sam were greeted by a military Guard of Honour before heading straight into confetti celebrations with their guests. I absolutely love moments like these to photograph. There's no need to manufacture anything — everyone is excited, the reactions are completely genuine and I can concentrate on capturing everything as it unfolds. The military traditions continued later in the day when Kat and Sam swapped the usual wedding cake knife for something rather more impressive — cutting their wedding cake together with a ceremonial sword. Definitely one way to make cake cutting more exciting. Relaxed Wedding Photography Around Oxnead Hall One of the things I love most about photographing weddings at Oxnead Hall is the sheer variety of beautiful locations without having to take couples away from their celebration for long. The gardens and grounds gave us the perfect backdrop for Kat and Sam's portraits. We kept everything relaxed, taking a little time away together while making the most of the gorgeous light before getting them straight back to their guests. That's always how I want portraits to feel. I want you to have those beautiful photographs you'll frame and keep forever, but I don't believe you should have to sacrifice hours of your wedding day to create them. The best photographs still feel like you. Elegant White Florals & Timeless Styling The styling throughout Kat and Sam's wedding complemented Oxnead Hall beautifully. White roses and soft neutral florals created a classic, luxurious feel, from Kat's incredible bouquet through to the arrangements used throughout the celebration. Rather than competing with the character of the venue, everything worked together beautifully — elegant, romantic and completely timeless. And as the light softened later in the day, we were able to make the most of the grounds again for another handful of photographs in that gorgeous evening light. From Elegant Bride to Party Mini Dress Then came one of my favourite transformations of the day. Kat changed from her beautiful wedding gown into a fun bridal mini dress for the evening celebrations — and it suited her perfectly. It completely changed the energy for the evening and, importantly, meant she was ready for some serious dancing. Once the dance floor filled, I could get right amongst everything and capture the celebrations as they actually happened — the questionable dance moves, huge laughs and slightly more chaotic photographs that inevitably appear towards the end of a brilliant wedding day. For me, those images are every bit as important as the beautiful portraits earlier in the day. Oxnead Hall Wedding Photography I always love returning to Oxnead Hall. It's an incredible Norfolk wedding venue to photograph, not only because it's beautiful, but because there are so many different spaces for each part of a wedding day. From outdoor ceremonies and drinks in the gardens to beautiful couple portraits and evening celebrations, everything can happen in one place while still giving the day plenty of variety. Kat and Sam's wedding was a perfect example of why I love photographing weddings here — elegant and beautifully considered, but also full of personality, genuine emotion and a lot of fun. If you're planning your own Oxnead Hall wedding and are looking for a Norfolk wedding photographer who will capture all of the beautiful details alongside the real, unplanned moments, I'd absolutely love to hear about your plans.
