A Romantic Manor House Wedding at Woodhall Manor, Suffolk
A Romantic Manor House Wedding at Woodhall Manor, Suffolk Grace and Joe's wedding at Woodhall Manor in Suffolk was everything a summer countryside wedding should be — sunshine, beautiful gardens, soft pastel florals and a celebration that felt elegant while still being wonderfully relaxed. Set within the Suffolk countryside, Woodhall Manor has all the character you'd expect from a historic manor house wedding venue, but with plenty of different spaces for the day to unfold. Grace and Joe made the most of the grounds, choosing an outdoor ceremony followed by drinks in the sunshine before everyone headed inside for the evening celebrations. With a palette of soft pinks and pastels running throughout the day, everything came together beautifully. An Outdoor Ceremony at Woodhall Manor Grace and Joe held their ceremony outside in the gardens, in front of Woodhall Manor's beautiful Dovecote. Surrounded by their family and friends, it was such a gorgeous setting for them to say their vows. The historic buildings and gardens provided the backdrop, while soft pastel flowers added just enough colour without taking away from the surroundings. Outdoor ceremonies are always lovely to photograph because there is so much happening beyond just the couple themselves — the reactions from parents, friends laughing together and all those little glances between guests that Grace and Joe wouldn't necessarily have noticed while standing at the front. They're often some of my favourite photographs from the whole day. Pinks, Pastels & Beautiful Summer Styling Grace and Joe chose a soft palette of pinks and pastels for their wedding, with The Vintage House That Could bringing the styling and florals together beautifully. Rather than feeling overly formal, everything had a soft, romantic quality that worked perfectly within the surroundings of the manor and gardens. Grace looked incredible, with hair by Charleigh Jayne Bridal and makeup by Amber Harlow Makeup creating an elegant, effortless bridal look that suited both her and the relaxed feel of the day perfectly. Relaxed Wedding Photography in the Suffolk Countryside With beautiful gardens and the manor itself as a backdrop, there are plenty of opportunities for photographs at Woodhall Manor without needing to disappear away from the wedding for ages. Grace and Joe were able to spend the majority of their drinks reception exactly where they should be — celebrating with their favourite people — while I documented everything happening around them. We then slipped away briefly for some relaxed couple portraits, making the most of the grounds and gorgeous summer light before heading straight back to the celebrations. This is always how I want portraits to fit into a wedding day. Beautiful photographs without turning your wedding into a photoshoot. From the Speeches to the Dance Floor As everyone moved inside, the celebrations continued with speeches before the evening really got underway. By that point in the day, everyone was completely relaxed — which is when some of the best documentary photographs happen. The formalities are finished, drinks are flowing and suddenly the dance floor is full. Mike Savory Films was alongside me capturing the day on video, while I could concentrate on preserving everything from the big moments to the slightly chaotic ones happening around them. It's that combination I always want a final gallery to have: the beautiful setting and thoughtful details, but also the laughter, reactions and people that made the wedding completely unique to the couple. Grace and Joe's wedding was a gorgeous example of just that — an outdoor summer ceremony, romantic styling and a relaxed celebration surrounded by the people they love. As a Suffolk wedding photographer, these are exactly the kinds of days I love documenting: beautiful and considered, but ultimately centred around the people, emotion and everything happening naturally.
