A Beautiful Summer Wedding at Hedsor House

There are some wedding days that stay with you, and Isabel and Andrew's beautiful summer wedding at Hedsor House is definitely one of them.

Having travelled over from their home in Canada to celebrate with their favourite people, they created a day that felt effortlessly elegant while still being incredibly relaxed and full of fun. There were beautiful florals, black tie, the most gorgeous Made With Love dress and one of the hottest wedding days I can remember — a very toasty 37 degrees!

But more than anything, this was a wedding centred around the people they love.

Hedsor House really is an incredible setting for a wedding. Surrounded by beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside, the house has all of the grandeur you'd expect from such an impressive venue, but still manages to feel wonderfully private once you're there celebrating with everyone you love.

Isabel looked absolutely incredible in her Made With Love gown. Elegant, modern and beautifully understated, it couldn't have suited her — or the setting — more perfectly.

After getting ready at Hedsor, it was time for their church ceremony.

And despite the soaring temperatures, there was such a lovely sense of excitement throughout the morning. Friends and family had travelled to be there, and after Isabel and Andrew's journey over from Canada themselves, it felt particularly special to finally have everyone together in one place.

Back at Hedsor House, the celebrations spilled outside for drinks, music and plenty of time catching up with friends and family.

And this is always one of my favourite parts of a wedding day to photograph.

Once the formalities of the ceremony are over, everyone relaxes. Drinks appear, shoes occasionally disappear, people who haven't seen each other for far too long are reunited and there are little moments happening everywhere you look.

For me, wedding photography is as much about those moments as it is the big ones.

While Isabel and Andrew enjoyed their reception, I could quietly move through everything happening around them — photographing the hugs, conversations, laughter and all those fleeting interactions they couldn't possibly see themselves.

Especially when there are so many people you love together in one place, those photographs become such an important part of the story.

One of the things I loved most about this wedding was the balance Isabel and Andrew created.

The beautiful outfits, gorgeous florals and incredible Hedsor House setting gave the day such an elegant feel, but it never felt too formal. It was still completely about having a brilliant time.

That's something I always want to preserve in the way I photograph a wedding too. Beautiful portraits absolutely have their place, particularly somewhere as stunning as Hedsor, but I don't want couples disappearing from their own celebration for hours to create them.

A little time together, some gentle direction when it's needed, beautiful light and then back to the party.

The rest can unfold naturally.

One of my favourite things about delivering a wedding gallery is knowing that my couples are about to discover moments they didn't even realise happened.

And Isabel and Andrew said something afterwards that summed this up perfectly:

“Holly captured all the big moments and all the little ones, and they really are magical snapshots in time. So many things that we didn't even realise had happened were captured — looking through the photos brings back all the amazing feelings of the day.”

That, for me, is exactly what wedding photography should do.

Not simply show you what everything looked like, but take you back to the people, atmosphere and emotions of the day.

Even the 37-degree heat. Although perhaps we'll remember that particular part slightly less fondly.

Isabel and Andrew, thank you for trusting me to photograph such a special day. It was an absolute joy to be part of it.
